Turn vacuuming time into fun time

Little but often 

When it comes to cleaning a hectic family home, my top time-saving tip is ‘little but often’. Clean as you go, keep on top of your daily messes (even if you’re allocating 5-10 minutes a day for spot cleans) and you’ll be surprised at how much time you actually save.

In the past, I’d spend hours of my weekend vacuuming with a corded vacuum and it really sucked (pun intended) up my time. I’d have to lug around the big, bulky machine and struggle to reach all the corners of the room because the cord kept getting tangled.

For a dad, the Dyson V11 is great for quick cleans on the go giving me more time to spend with the kids, and watch rugby, which are the more important things in life (especially rugby).

Bed time

I’ll be the first to admit, there are a couple of places around the house that I’ll turn a blind eye to when it comes to cleaning. I bet there’s one place you’ve definitely overlooked too – the mattress.

I challenge you to vacuum your mattress using the mini motorised tool! You’ll be amazed by all the dirt that you can suck out. If a clean place for your kids to sleep isn’t reason enough to try out the Dyson V11, I don’t know what is.

Use your own little army

While I’m in charge of the Dyson V11, I like to get the kids involved with smaller cleaning tasks around their home, like putting their toys away or packing away after dinner. Not only will it make you feel like you have your own little army, but as they say, ‘many hands make light work’!

Fun time

Keeping the house clean is important, but don’t forget to make it fun. As hard as parenting, and the housework that comes with it can be, remember to find ways to have fun while doing it.

A fancy motto I came up with a few years ago is, “life's loud, kids are loud, laugh louder”.
