Treasure hunt new Corian kitchen benchtop from The Laminex Group
New Corian kitchen benchtop from The Laminex Group
The wonder of the internet was put to good use in the design of this new kitchen. Auckland designer Mal Corboy went online to research surfacing materials that would offer something a little out of the ordinary.
He found just what he was looking for on an Australian website Corian in Clam Shell from the new Corian Organics Collection. At the time, the collection was not available in New Zealand, so the product was specially imported by The Laminex Group.
Not surprisingly, the popularity of this product overseas, and the interest from local designers, has resulted in the Corian Organics Collection now being readily available.

Mal Corboy says he particularly liked the organic look of the Clam Shell design.
"It looks very like natural stone it doesn't have the repetitive patterning that you often see on engineered stone surfaces. And it works visually with the existing terracotta floors and DecoGlaze colourback glass that forms the splashbacks and integrated hood."
Corboy says he also specified Corian so he could create a seamless look to the perimeter benchtops, which are edged with LED lighting.
"Corian has other benefits for the clients, too, being hygienic, stain resistant and easy to maintain," he says. "I also like the way it can be shaped to suit virtually any application."
