Even in the most refined interior, the spirit of nature has a place. Rugs and mats created from natural materials introduce textures that are a pleasure to touch, and provide subtle visual interest in a room. The Natural Elements lineup is truly international. The sisal fibers, for example, are harvested from African agave sisalana plants. Coir, a hardy, moisture-resistant material, is reaped from Pacific coconut husks, while Seagrass Elements are woven from tall sea grasses cultivated in the marsh fields of southern Asia. Mountaingrass is from the mountain regions of Asia, and Wool Elements comprises carpets made with much-prized New Zealand wools.

"While these materials are exotic, they are also renewable resources," says Scharff. "Natural Elements' goal is to be as kind to the planet as it is to the soles of your feet."
