Town and country
First impressions can be lasting impressions. Stutex Stone's Kiwi schist brings character and durability to this country homestead
Creating a defining character for your home is dependent not only on its architectural style, but also on the choice of materials used in its construction.
For the Waikato homestead featured on these pages, a combination of Kiwi schist from Stutex Stone and cedar and plaster cladding was used to create a sense of permanence. The house, designed by Aaron Haddock of Aesthetics Architecture and built by Karl Kampenhout Builders, features Kiwi schist chimneys, walls and columns.
Homeowners Jo Brown and Tim Montgomerie say Kiwi schist in the colourway Central Otago was specified as it is consistent with the style of the house and the cedar cladding. It was also a cost-effective alternative to natural stone.
Stutex Stone says the manufactured stone weighs considerably less than natural stone, and can be installed quickly and easily over a pre-sealed exterior or interior substrate. The products are available in a variety of styles and colours, and come with a 30-year warranty.
