Touch of Tuscany
Finishing the ceiling to match the cabinetry creates a sense of harmony in this kitchen from Designer's Showcase Kitchens & Baths, Inc

The success of any interior space is the result of paying attention not only to the main features, but also to all the smaller, less obvious, details. A kitchen's primary purpose is to provide a place to prepare meals and to cook, but its appearance will be much improved if every element in the space is incorporated into the design.
Jeff Cannata, CMKBD, of Designer's Showcase Kitchens & Baths, Inc, advises his clients to try not to limit themselves to a kitchen designed simply as a place to cook.
"By also considering the ceiling, transoms and columns, the room takes on a special dimension that complements its primary purpose," he says.

In the home featured here, the owners wanted a gourmet kitchen with a warm, Tuscan-style feel. Cannata selected Jay Rambo Alder cabinetry and continued the theme with cherry columns, ceilings and transoms. Large commercial-grade appliances are appropriate to the scale of the space.
"This combination of products creates the style the owners wanted. The various details look good together and create a kitchen that meets their needs and is highly functional," says Cannata.
In this kitchen, specific areas are designed to accommodate food preparation, serving and clean-up functions. These different areas allow the owners, who have hectic family schedules, to have a kitchen that is easy to use, flows well, meets all their cooking requirements and allows family activities to run smoothly.
