PTG architect Henry Lin worked closely with his clients, accurately interpreting their needs and aspirations to create a design for a contemporary family home with striking forms, clean lines and modern features. An open-plan layout was integral to the design, to ensure the owner, when in the kitchen, still could participate in family activities. Exterior view of a new home in albany.PTG Architecture was Engaged to provide full architectural, interior and lighting design "This design allows each space to flow onto the next, allowing the eye to see beyond the room into other areas of the house, creating a great sense of spaciousness," says Lin.However, with large sliding walls in the living spaces, the open-plan area can easily be divided into smaller spaces when needed. The same concept is applied to the upper deck, which is accessed from the kitchen and dining area via architectural sliders. These, and the adjustable louvred sliding system around the deck, can be open or closed to create an exposed or sheltered extension of the living spaces.Additionally, the central double-height atrium, which connects the spaces in the house, promotes internal air circulation to cool the house in the summer. In winter, the atrium can be closed off from the rest of the home to greatly reduce heating requirements. interior stairs view of a new home in albany.PTG Architecture was Engaged to provide full architectural, interior and lighting design Features door, stairs, windows and wooden floors PTG Architecture and the builder for the project, Bellve Construction, teamed up to achieve the owners' brief for a modern design with flat roofs and overhanging eaves that provide the house with protection from the weather. Bellve used masonry construction, with a solid plaster finish, to ensure the home would be strongly built, enduring and quiet. The construction style of this home means it has good insulation properties, so it is warm, dry and energy efficient. For additional information, contact PTG Architecture.
