Top of the world
At 92 storeys, it's the tallest residential building in the world. Melbourne's Eureka Tower is also scaling new heights in apartment design and fit-out

Most high-rise apartments are designed to maximise views and capture as much light as possible. But systems need to be in place to ensure the sun can be blocked when needed.
Helioscreen Australia was commissioned to supply window furnishings that would shield the Eureka Tower interiors from the glaring sun, yet still allow views to the outside. The company says the furnishings also needed to be compatible with the C-Bus automation system that controls many aspects of the apartment interiors.

General manager Pino Alessi says Helioscreen blinds were chosen to meet these criteria. In the living areas, both Topscreen and Duoscreen sunscreen blinds were fitted, while Sunpro blockout fabric features in the bedrooms.
"The Helioscreen fabric reduces glare and heat inside the apartments by up to 60%, while still allowing residents to enjoy the extensive views," he says. "This not only ensures the apartments are more comfortable to live in, but also provides energy savings."
