For a school that has been chosen by several generations of families for the education of their children, durability and quality are going to be primary considerations in any new project.
Dominion Constructors was appointed as main contractor for the construction of the new Performing Arts Centre at St Cuthbert's College. Its role was to ensure the building was completed to a high standard, offering top-quality facilties for musical and dramatic performances, as well as classrooms and individual practice rooms.
As part of its brief, Dominion Constructors was responsible for overseeing all phases of the construction process including assisting with design detail, programming, subcontractor co-ordination and site management. Long term durability was a key requirement in the construction of the building. The building's concrete and blockwork structure as well as the exceptional high quality external and internal design features required detail to be continually developed during the construction and fit-out stages. The external fae§ade presented a challenge of integrating a broad array of materials from copper to stone and two different roofing systems. Through Dominion's vast knowledge and experience it successfully integrated all cladding materials to ensure the weather tightness of the building.
Dominion Constructors utilised its longstanding certified systems to control noise and traffic restraints and manage the health and safety of the personnel and students on this busy site.
