The client brief called for the transformation of a low-key weekender into a contemporary family home, with an emphasis on indoor as well as outdoor entertaining, says Bright."To accomplish this, it was acknowledged that a large extension of the home would be required, while much of the existing internal layout would have to be redefined."The result is a complete makeover lines between old and new are blurred, with patios and decks stretching in excess of 30m. A 20m infinity edge pool mirrors the shape of the deck as it crosses the site, creating a seamless link between the original house and extension," says Bright. In all, a second garage, entry, study, three bedrooms, three bathrooms and two living areas have been added. Each of the living areas and principal rooms open onto large outdoor spaces. "A 15-month build time is likely to test a client-builder relationship, but not in this case the focus was not on meeting a certain time frame, but on creating a finished product of which all parties could be proud," Bright says."To achieve this, a close working relationship between Excelcon, designers Graham Jones Design, interior designer Bianca Jones ID and the client was established at the outset."For further details, contact Excelcon, 7 Hammel Court, Hallam, Vic 3803, phone (03) 8795 7044, or visit the website: www.excelcon.com.au.
