Creating a dramatic commercial interior refit for an architect-client requires a broad skill set. First, there's the technical knowledge required to address the myriad aspects of a feature-rich environment. Second, there's the issue of delivering those exacting aesthetics to time and to budget.Canam Interiors works closely with architects and designers, translating technically difficult and aesthetically original concepts into dramatic yet highly functional spaces. The internal fit-out of two floors of architects GHD's head office is a case in point, says managing director Loukas Petrou."This was a fast-track project, undertaken in a largely occupied space with a number of specialist structural and design features. Canam Interiors has transformed Orion Healths head office environment "Canam successfully bid for this project in competitive tender and then commenced work with GHD on the staging and construction programme to enable the architects to take occupation of as much of the space as soon as possible."We also offered several operational alternatives and worked with the architects throughout the project on design solutions that met programme and budget without compromising the GHD vision."During the peak of construction, there were over 200 of GHD's staff also in operation, so careful management of noise, dust migration and health and safety were all priorities for Canam's site team. Specialist finishes abound in the fit-out of the architectural offices of GHD. In addition, to the high quality partitioning, extensive joinery and service modifications, the design called for the installation of a new spiral staircase between levels two and three, as well as an air-bridge across the atrium at level two."The steel staircase eventually weighed in at more than three tonne, requiring substantial structural steel support to the concrete floor below," says Petrou. "All-in-all, the GHD fit-out was a hugely successful and interesting project."For details, contact Canam Interiors, phone (09) 836 3069, or visit the website: canam.co.nz Story by: Trendsideas 30 Apr, 2015 New Home Civic and Institutional Design Trendsideas Home kitchen bathroom commercial design Latest Post Grown from the land 03 Nov, 2024 Serene air 03 Nov, 2024 Artistic vibe 03 Nov, 2024 We know the Specialists Related Book More Books > Commercial Design Trends Vol. 31/9 Commercial Design Trends is aimed at our professional readers, and showcases commercial buildings.
