You're looking forward to a long, hot soak in the tub, but before the bath is full, the water's cold. Or, in the middle of your shower, someone turns on the washing machine and leaves you with just a trickle of lukewarm water. Sound familiar?

Fortunately, this doesn't have to be the case. With a gas fuelled Infinity continuous flow hot water system from Rinnai, you can have an endless supply of hot water, unaffected by temperature fluctuations.

The Rinnai Infinity system does away with the need for a hot water cylinder altogether. Instead, it heats the water only as it's required, giving you as little or as much hot water as you need.

This makes Rinnai Infinity a convenient and energy-efficient solution for water heating, says Audrey Smith of Rinnai.

As well as freeing up space, there are no bills for heating water you don't need. Water stored in a hot water cylinder must be continually heated to keep it hot for when it is next required. That means that when you're out all day, or away for the weekend, energy is being used to keep your water ready for the next time you turn a on a hot tap. A Rinnai Infinity only heats the water you need, when you need it, so no energy is wasted.

"When the Infinity is installed with digital controllers, you're not mixing hot water with cold to get a comfortable level of warmth, meaning the water temperature is not affected when a tap is turned on elsewhere in the house," says Smith.

Separate controllers in the kitchen, bathroom or laundry allow you to set the water temperature from each room. The thermostat ranges from a tepid 37ËC to a hot 55ËC. Bathroom controllers have an upper limit of 50ËC to prevent accidental scalding.

The Bathroom Deluxe and Compact controllers are designed for wet areas and can be installed by the shower cubicle allowing you to adjust the temperature while you're showering.

The Rinnai Infinity is available in a range of different sizes depending on your hot water needs. The Rinnai Infinity 26 is suitable for the average home with two bathrooms, producing up to 26 litres of hot water per minute.

Rinnai has models for areas with low water pressure and all models are suitable for both natural gas and LPG.

In most situations, the Infinity unit is mounted to the exterior of the home. A Rinnai Recess box can be used to hide the unit behind a hinged door that can be painted to match your house.
