Hi-tech security for Auckland Airport
Just as Auckland Airport's international terminal is designed to keep pace with changing aircraft design and travel movements, so is the new communications and security technology designed with the future in mind. Point 2 Point supplied and installed state-of-the-art communications and security systems throughout the new arrivals hall, border screening agency, corridors and new pier both inside and out.
The project included a Panasonic CCTV system with 50 cameras for a nose-in guidance system, perimeter security and a facial recognition system.
Director Mike Crawford says Point 2 Point also provided access control, which includes a locking system for all doors to secure areas. The systems ensure that while the new pier has the flexibility to cater to both large and small aircraft, inbound and outbound travellers are kept separate at all times.
Hubbell telecommunications cabling and fibreoptics feature throughout the new areas of the terminal the company installed more than 600km of cabling, 3000 Cat 6 outlets and 5000 fibreoptic outlets.
Crawford says Point 2 Point works in a niche market, providing a broad range of complete infrastructure solutions for large and small projects. The company has undertaken many such projects for Auckland Airport over the past 10 years.
