It's appropriate then that the design of Skill City in Bangalore, India's technology centre, was inspired by this image. Designed by New York-based Lee Harris Pomeroy Architects, the 280ha satellite city is being developed by Bangalore native and Bollywood legend Sanjay Khan, and will encompass a new-technology campus, 70-storey office tower, residential community and golf course, as well as a 460,000m² shopping, exhibition and entertainment complex with green roof. "As well as the obvious technological influence, the design also draws inspiration from mandala design and incorporates symbols of good luck from the Hindu culture," says Lee Harris Pomeroy. "An electricity plant will supply all necessary local power and the residential zone is serviced by schools, open parkland and community and medical centres.
