Gas torches from make a dramatic entry
An exterior detail that contributes to the Italian style of the house is the pair of gas torches mounted on the stone pillars at the front entrance.
Supplied by Travis Industries, the Tempest Torch has a spinning, spiral-like flame inside a tempered glass housing that is partially open to the air.
The movement of the flame is due to the Venturi effect, and requires no mechanical or electrical input. As the flames rise, the natural Venturi effect causes them to dance and spiral. The flames can extend to up to 17in when at full effect.
The stainless steel construction of the Tempest Torch ensures its durability and also creates clean contemporary lines, which suit many styles of architecture. The torches run on 20,000BTU. For this project, a wall-mounted style has been used.
Travis Industries are specialists in high-end fireplace design, and supplied the gas fireplace in the living area.
