Taste of the tropics
A series of linked pavilions and expansive outdoor living areas enhance the Balinese look of this country home
It's hard to beat the sense of indulgent luxury that comes with holidaying in a tropical resort much of which can be attributed to the easy, relaxed flow between the indoors and outdoors.
Designer Mark Wilson of Masonry Design Solutions was contracted to create just such a resort-style ambience for this country property.
"The house reflects a Balinese influence it was designed as a series of linked pavilions with steeply pitched roofs," Wilson says. "The central living area has a high volume, with the symmetrical wings being slightly smaller."
Each pavilion opens to a terraced outdoor living area, including a loggia, which is slightly elevated above a large swimming pool. The loggia features Balinese-style exposed rafters and an outdoor fireplace. Wide steps leading to the pool, and expansive coloured concrete paving, enhance the resort look.
Masonry Design Solutions specialises in the design and project management of both masonry homes and landscapes.
