Kitchen design innovation from Neo Design

Modern kitchens are increasingly likely to be an integral part of a family living area, which means continuity needs to be addressed right at the outset.

To visually link the kitchen-dining and family area in this house, the owners commissioned a single company, Neo Design, to design and manufacture the kitchen, scullery, wine cellar, dining suite and living room cabinets.

Director Wayne Church says sleek, dark-stained, polyurethaned American oak was chosen for cabinets and furniture throughout the house. In the kitchen this was teamed with Titanium granite benchtops and full-height glass splashbacks. LED lighting at the sides of the protruding centre glass panel enhances a 3-D effect.

LED lighting also appears beneath the upper cabinets in the scullery and cellar, and on the island, which appears to float above the tiled floor. The kitchen incorporates other new technology as well, including electronic doors and drawers that open at a touch.

Church says Neo Design also designed and built cabinetry for the bathrooms and built wardrobes for the bedrooms.

"Homeowners today are looking for more sophisticated interiors," he says. "They want visual continuity, and they want high-quality, custom-built fittings and furniture that will go the distance.

"Neo Design delivers on all these points. We put an emphasis on attention to detail, with each project individually made to suit the client's requirements. And we always ensure deadlines are met."

Church says Neo Design works with a wide range of materials, from solid timbers and veneers to paints, glass and laminates. The company, which has been in business for more than 20 years and is 100% New Zealand owned and operated, works on both large and small projects.
