Taking the initiative
Bank's IT infrastructure designed for expansion

The provision of an IT infrastructure that could grow with the bank without incurring future upgrade costs was a priority for Westpac. The simplification of infrastructure management was also a key reason for the consolidation of the different business units in the one building.
ITC Services, a company specialising in the delivery of infrastructure solutions, was contracted to provide all the data cabling throughout the building. Director Bruce Croucher says the project involved the largest Category 6A installation in New Zealand.
"The bank specified ADC Krone's TrueNet HighBand 20 Patch by Exception solution using Cat 6A cabling because it was the best way to future-proof the building," he says. "The system can be adapted to a variety of applications and won't require expensive upgrades."

Croucher says designing the IT infrastructure to accommodate future needs also fitted with the requirements for the 4-Star Green Star rating. The bank would not need to replace 100km of cabling in a few years.
ITC Services installed ADC Krone's FL2000 fibre frames and FiberGuide management system in the data centre again to allow for future expansion.
David Misselbrook of Westpac NZ says that as the building evolved, idiosyncrasies were highlighted, along with the location of specific business units.

"ITC Services was adaptable and maintained tight time frames and budget guidelines. The company also created a great working rapport with audiovisual specialists and electricians, ensuring others were never delayed in their roles. ITC even created wall pathways for other suppliers."
Other ITC Services corporate clients include Vodafone, Goodman Fielder, NZ Transport Agency, Ericsson and Auckland International Airport.
