For any business, costs needs to be considered carefully, but for a charitable foundation, it is even more important to ensure funds are spent wisely.
When the Salvation Army Support Office analysed its costs, it saw an opportunity to save money by reducing the amount spent on air conditioning to keep its offices cool in summer.
A solution, which is suitable for laminated windows, was OptiTune 22 window film from Film Pacific. OptiTune 22 offers a 70% reduction in solar heat gain and a 64% reduction in glare, as well as providing privacy from the outside.
Before applying the film to all the glazing in the building, Film Pacific trialled it for the Salvation Army by installing it onto the windows in one office.
Kip Linden, general manager of Film Pacific, says the benefits of the new film were immediately apparent.
"Heat flow to the building was reduced, cutting energy costs by up to 30%, and glare was also reduced, allowing workers to use their computers more productively," Linden says.
