Take a tumble

A century ago, it took an entire day to do the family laundry. Thankfully, we've come a long way since then, with modern technology making this once mundane task virtually effortless.

The new range of Smeg laundry appliances, which includes two models of washing machine and three tumble dryers, was designed with both convenience and ease of use in mind.

Quiet and efficient, the S750 top-loading automatic washing machine uses fuzzy technology to sense load size and adjustthe wash cycle accordingly. With a capacityof 6.5kg, it features easy-to-use touch-control operation and has a folding lid.

Like the S750, the electronic control S650 has a stainless steel drum and a spin speed of 850rpm. Both models use a gentle tumble wash action, rather than an agitator, resulting in less wear on clothes.

The Smeg SD447 Sensor dryer senses when clothes are dry. It turns off the element, but continues tumbling to minimise creasing. In laundries where space is an issue, Smeg offers the SD514 wall-mountable, reversible, front-venting dryer.

Smeg's SCD727 condenser dryer automatically drains away water collected during drying, so there's no need to empty the reservoir.
