Most people don't get the chance to choose a new kitchen very often, so it pays to do a little research before making any final decisions especially as technologies are constantly being updated.

The Instyle by Apollo Kitchens showroom in Smithfield, NSW, which was recently expanded and totally renovated, makes it easy to do your homework. The Hettich-endorsed showroom brings together a vast collection of materials, hardware, appliances, benchtops and cabinet styles, so you can make your own comparisons.

There are also five working kitchens on display. This means you can experience for yourself the soft-closing door hardware and innovative, ergonomic storage options that ensure the functionality of your kitchen matches its looks.

Joe Ardita of Instyle by Apollo Kitchens says an in-house designer is available to help with the process.

"We also have a large plasma TV and CAD computer software so clients can view their kitchen plans in 3D."

All Apollo Kitchens are custom designed and manufactured by the firm, which has more than 40 years' experience.

"We provide a full range of styles, from high-end designs to value solutions," Joe Ardita says. "Cabinets may feature laminate, vacuum-formed or polyurethane finishes, timber veneers or solid timber. And there are virtually unlimited benchtop solutions. Where possible, we will incorporate eco-friendly options."

Current trends favour sleek, shadow-line cabinets. Splashes of colour, organic patterns and figured wood-grains are also in vogue.
