The design provides a series of zinc-framed vertical boxes that mirror the architectural rhythm of the heritage buildings opposite. These boxes are clad in Rheinzink a pure titanium zinc supplied by Craft Metals, and fabricated and installed by Architectural Roofing & Cladding (ARC).Greg Cunningham, ARC general manager, says Rheinzink is a particularly durable option the zinc has a life span of more than 100 years."This is a material that has been used for roofing and wall cladding in Europe for hundreds of years, so its durability is never in doubt. However, Rheinzink is also increasingly specified for its adaptability. It can be used on all types of architectural forms, as it is skilfully shaped, stretched and worked. On this building, it clads the tapered oriels and large columns on the exterior. It also was used to line the lift lobby beside the main entrance." View of the entrance stairway with cladding by ARC Cunningham says the project was split into two contracts. Working for the curtain wall company off-site, ARC installed the exterior zinc on the prefabricated components, which were then transported to the site for installation. All the pre-weathered interior zinc panels for the lift lobby were installed on site."The design team at ARC also drafted the zinc panelling for the lift lobby," says Cunningham. "This required extensive consultation with the builder and project architect to ensure the design matched the architectural intent. These zinc panels feature on the walls, soffits and fascias, and clad a small bridge across the lobby. The zinc used on the interior was lacquered to avoid fingermarks."ARC also installed all the 10mm stainless steel plate reveals around the lift doors.Formed in 1993, ARC is a leading specialist metal roofing company. Cunningham says the firm's extensive knowledge and skill set, combined with a commitment to innovation and excellence has ensured ARC has a reputation for quality workmanship. Ark North Sydney, NSW.
