Strength and character
Create a natural backdrop for your home, pool and garden with walls built by Auckland Stonemasons
The natural characteristics of stone make it both an attractive and practical building material.
About 12 years ago, the owners of this rural property commissioned Auckland Stonemasons to improve their home with a stone entrance and retaining walls.
So when they began a large renovation project recently, they called on the company again. Auckland Stonemasons worked with the house designer and landscape architect, constructing new stone walls for the house, pool house and around the property. The company also carried out excavation and foundation work before designing and building stone walls and steps in the gardens. New stone was chosen to match the existing stone.
Auckland Stonemasons was originally set up by current owners Jim and Len Lavas's grandfather, who emigrated in 1927 from a small Dalmatian village that specialised in stonemasonry. The company has worked on residential and commercial projects including bridges, retaining walls, houses, pillars and fireplaces ever since.
