Inspired by the life and works of Ernest Hemingway, this collection from Thomasville is a celebration of the man himself
An author's life is rarely used as an inspiration for furniture design. Evoking Ernest Hemingway's obsessive perfectionism and passion for travel, adventure, and telling the story that had never been told was the challenge for the designers who crafted this collection for Thomasville.
Exotic woods, rich leathers, marble and materials from around the world create the Ernest Hemingway Collection, an artful celebration of the writer, says Thomasville creative director, Bob Schaffer.
"Every piece is designed to tell a story. Authentic stylistic influences were taken from Hemingway's favorite places Paris, Venice, Havana, Africa and Key West among others," says Schaffer.
In total the 96 piece Ernest Hemingway Collection provides a full range of dining room, living room and bedroom furniture.
The Old Havana poster bed is detailed with dramatic spiral posts and laurel burl. Draping the canopy frame with a sheer white fabric reinforces the breezy feel of this showroom, says Schaffer.
The dining collection features the Europa pedestal dining table and upholstered Europa club chair named for Hemingway's love of the Europa Bar in Venice, Italy.
