Most homeowners have a fair idea about what they want from a new home. In fact many, like the owners of this home, have initial design plans that provide a starting point.
When Cheryl and Barry Kloogh looked to build, they took their preliminary plans to GJ Gardner Homes Otago.
"GJ Gardner Homes made suggestions to make the house more affordable," says Cheryl Kloogh. "We still managed to incorporate the things we wanted, including a spacious, open-plan living area with space for a grand piano."
The split-level house has four bedrooms on the lower level, garaging and the entry at mid level, and living areas on the upper level, with huge windows maximising the sun and views. Kloogh says the house is so well insulated that even one hour of sun a day in winter will warm the interior for the entire night.
The kitchen, by NKBA designer Annemarie Mains CKDNZ, reinforces the contemporary architecture, with no compromise.
The owners have plenty of praise for the entire team at GJ Gardner Homes Otago, which trades as Clan Construction and is run by former All Black Laurie Mains.
"The staff were great to work with and they have a fantastic relationship with all their contractors. The project was so well organised, there were no hold-ups or hiccups."
