It's not often that appliance design remains relevant for a decade. But when it does happen you can be sure you are onto a winner.

Ten years after its introduction to the market, the Fisher & Paykel DishDrawer is still the dishwasher of choice for an ever-increasing number of homeowners. But it has evolved over the years, with the latest adaptation offering a larger top drawer, designed to accommodate 13in plates.

Despite its more spacious design and sleek modern styling, the DishDrawer Tall loses none of the brand's compact charm, says Laurence Mawhinney, vice-president of sales and marketing for Fisher & Paykel Appliances.

"The DishDrawer has long been a signature product line for the company we have sold more than a million units," he says. "The DishDrawer Tall offers everything consumers love about the original appliance, such as the energy- and space-saving features, but provides a more spacious and flexible interior design."

Mawhinney says the DishDrawer Tall offers a number of key improvements over the current design, in addition to the larger top drawer. A completely redesigned racking system is vertically adjustable and features independent cup racks that can be adjusted to fit all sizes of cups and mugs. The enhanced plate racks have tines that can be folded back to provide space for large pots, platters and bowls.

In keeping with the green tradition of Fisher & Paykel appliances, the DishDrawer Tall is also energy efficient and Energy Star approved. Additionally, the DishDrawer Tall offers the option of an economical, smaller load using as little as 1.98 gallons of water 2.6 gallons is the average for a normal eco cycle. This single unit or half-load function needs only half the energy, water and detergent of a conventional dishwasher.

As with the standard DishDrawer, the DishDrawer Tall is available as a Double or Single DishDrawer, in black, white and brushed stainless steel finishes. An EZKleen coating on the stainless steel units makes clean-up a breeze. Alternatively, for a seamless look, the DishDrawer Tall can be integrated into your kitchen cabinets.
