Bathrooms have come of age in recent years, as homeowners seek to turn their master suites into private sanctuaries these are often reminiscent of opulent hotel or tropical resort suites.

This trend also means client expectations have been raised. Standard bathroomware simply won't cut it for an increasing number of design-savvy clients they want stand-out fixtures and fittings that provide the wow factor.

Apaiser¢ is a company that has tackled this trend head on. The company manufactures its own exclusive composite stone bathware, from a new medium that is a mix of marble, resin and polymers. The medium is moulded and shaped to provide highly sculptural tubs and vanity tops.

Director Belinda Try says the handcrafted finish of Apaiser stone bathware is soft and warm to touch, which means it has a luxurious, sensual feel.

Apaiser has a core range of products specifically designed to be the focus of a bathroom. This range can be adapted to suit a wide variety of end uses. But the company also offers a custom manufacturing service. Special moulds can be created to make tubs and vanity tops for large-scale projects, including resort hotels and high-end apartment developments. Belinda Try says both the shape and the colour of the bathware can be customised.

"Apaiser stone bathware also has practical advantages," she says. "As there is no concrete in the medium, it doesn't require sealing or any special treatment. It is also easily cleaned, non-staining and a low-maintenance option."
