Stage right
Over the years, we usually fill our homes with an eclectic mix of furniture but when we come to sell, it is often better to leave it to the professionals
While our own furniture, accumulated over many years, will no doubt have strong sentimental value, it is sometimes hard to take a step back and be objective. Does it highlight the best aspects of the home, or will the effect be lost on those without the same sense of nostalgia?
Interior Concepts Homestaging specialises in showcasing houses in the best possible light, using the appropriate furniture. Simon Gill of Interior Concepts says highlighting a home's desirable features, while concealing some of its less desirable traits, is the key to successful homestaging.
"We supply quality New Zealand-made contemporary and traditional furniture, as well as selected international pieces. Our team of designers ensures there is a quick turnaround between the initial consultation and getting the furniture into your home," he says.
The team of designers will often work with the homeowner to achieve a look that will help the house reach a better price.
"In the featured house, we used sofas with tubular legs to keep the feeling of space. The reflective qualities of black glass and chrome mirrored the effect of the pool," says Gill.
