With Queenstown continuing to attract record numbers of tourists, more hotels are needed to keep up with demand
Comfortable, well-designed furniture plays a key role in creating attractive hotel spaces. Danske Mobler worked closely with interior designer Megan Judd from Group CDA architects and Perron to create a range of custom-made furniture for the hotel.
Group CDA specified dark-stained oak and natural walnut, both solid and veneer, as the main finishes running throughout the hotel. Mixing traditional fluting structures with modern aluminium extrusions and fittings achieved the overall look envisaged by the interior designer. Upholstered pieces in a range of fabrics were then created to complement the hardwood pieces.
Furniture designed for the suites includes a two-seater dining table, armchairs, bedside cabinets and a media/mini bar console. The console is a functional, purpose-built piece that stores food, wine, the television control unit and speakers. The television itself is hung on the wall behind the console.
Upholstered pieces in the business lounge include four throne-like chairs. Extra-tall backs are upholstered in bright green synthetic fabric that has the look and feel of felt. Also in the business lounge are several two-seater sofas, round leather ottomans, round coffee tables, bookcases, a desk and a daybed. Neutral tones were chosen for the business lounge sofas, with the open weave giving a textured finish. Restaurant tables feature fluting from the top to the bottom of their pedestals.
The boardroom table is a one-off design created to accommodate up to 45 people. The table features media and power points concealed under a chocolate oak inlay.
