With Queenstown continuing to attract record numbers of tourists, more hotels are needed to keep up with demand

A large scale hotel should be designed to complement rather than detract from the local geographical and social environment. This concept was crucial to Group CDA when designing the new Queenstown Sofitel hotel.

From the outset, the main design philosophy was to create a contemporary building in the classical genre evident in some of the architecture of the region. It also was important that Queenstown's residents were comfortable with the hotel's design.
