With Queenstown continuing to attract record numbers of tourists, more hotels are needed to keep up with demand
Reliable electrical engineering including power, communication systems and lighting provides the functional backbone of any hotel.
Electrical engineer Ensor Partnership was responsible for the design and documentation of all electrical systems, switchboards and metering in the Sofitel hotel. It also designed the telephone system, the backbone television cabling, lighting, and internal point-of-sale services, which allow individual items to be charged to a room.
The company was responsible for lighting design for all public spaces, including the exterior of the hotel. The developer asked for the exterior lighting to be designed in such a way that it looked good during the day as well as in the evening.
Ensor Partnership provided the power supply for the signage, and chose suitable weather-protected fittings to illuminate the flags.
The hotel has several retail outlets on site, so one challenge was to ensure retail electrical services were separated from one another.
