For events centres and other large public venues, flexibility of use is a key feature. To ensure the venue is suitable for a range of purposes, the spaces need to be easy to reconfigure and equally important, they must also have effective sound insulation.

Auckland's new Viaduct Events Centre is a stand-alone, multipurpose events centre on the Halsey Street extension wharf at the Viaduct Harbour. It provides 6000m² of space that can be used for exhibitions, meetings and hospitality.

Dorma Variflex acoustic operable wall panels 3m high and 1.2m wide allow the space to be used in a variety of ways, while limiting the transmission of sound between areas. Altogether, the company supplied 50 operable wall panels and acoustic doors, finished in a Euro Ash veneer, in five different locations in the centre.

Dorma also provided around five automatic doors and about 30 acoustic operable wall panels for different areas in Novotel Hotel, Auckland. Dorma El sliding doors in the main entries from the foyer, a fire egress door and staff entry doors provide high levels of security and operate in extreme climatic conditions. Plus, Dorma Variflex panels were supplied to provide acoustic operable walls.
