As the development of Brisbane's riverfront continues to shape the city, one company can take credit for much of the urban renewal, including major infrastructure projects.
Mirvac has played a key role in the transformation of the riverfront, working closely with Urban Renewal Brisbane to provide signature residential projects, public spaces and community facilities in the city's inner suburbs. Most recently, the company developed the 5500-seat Queensland Tennis Centre at Tennyson. The venue will be handed over to the State Government at the beginning of December, in time for the Brisbane International tournament, which leads into the Australian Open.
Tennyson Reach, adjoining the Queensland Tennis Centre, is Mirvac's landmark residential precinct. This development will transform the 12ha derelict Tennyson power station site into a new $540 million integrated residential, recreation and lifestyle hub, providing 390 luxury apartments in six buildings.
With 400m of north-facing river frontage, Tennyson Reach will also feature extensive landscaped parklands, bikeways and pathways along the riverfront.
Mirvac has previously developed the old CSR Sugar Mill at the Cutters Landing development in New Farm, and the industrial Hornibrook site in Bulimba, which was transformed into the prestigious Waterline-Bulimba development.
Waterfront, Newstead is the next Mirvac riverfront development to come on stream. Mirvac CEO Development Queensland Matthew Wallace says this premium mixed-use development will have a residential apartment focus.
