Softly spoken
To introduce a warm, inviting aesthetic to this new bathroom, the designer matched Calacatta marble with walls painted in Teal Twilight by Kelly-Moore
With bathrooms increasingly designed as private sanctuaries, there is a need for quiet visual harmony. Cool materials, such as marble and stone, often need to be balanced by warmer elements.
To achieve such harmony in this new bathroom, interior designer Constance Petersen of Petersen Design Associates, Novato, CA, paired large slabs of Calacatta marble with Teal Twilight walls by Kelly-Moore Paints.
"The paint color is the exact shade of aqua requested by the owners," the designer says. "It picks up the warm gray and beige streak running through the marble, and the color of the ruffled chair cover. It also enhances the air of romance and luxury."
The overall effect is reinforced by the high wainscoting, traditional-style wall sconces and intricate panels on the painted and glazed cabinetry.
Petersen says her interior design firm frequently specifies finishes for builders and developers.
"Kelly-Moore is always our first choice of paint, due to its durability and the warranty," she says. "And, as designers, we appreciate the extensive color range."
