Famous for our love of the great outdoors, it follows that New Zealanders consider barbecues an important part of the entertaining landscape. Today's function-rich, fashion-conscious models have come a long way from the open-air appliances of the past.

Electrolux, always ahead in terms of appliance design, has introduced a new barbecue that offers the looks and functionality you would expect from your indoor appliances, says marketing manager Rosalie Davison.

"The heavy-duty, all stainless steel Electrolux En:V is a contemporary, high-end barbecue that is designed to complement upmarket outdoor living spaces," she says. "However, there is more to this appliance than a strong modern aesthetic what we've learned in developing kitchen and restaurant appliances, we have applied to our barbecues as well. As a result, the Electrolux En:V features even surface temperatures for precision cooking, and easy-to-clean surfaces."

Cooking functionality is further extended with an optional side burner, while the cast-iron reversible trivet gives you the choice of cooking with a flat bottom pan or wok.

Several thoughtful inclusions make doubly sure that the Electrolux En:V is the life of the party. A drop-down hood, for example, means nothing gets in the way of a chef's conversation. In terms of practical advantages, sturdy wheels are cleverly integrated into the appliance as are the bin and gas bottle. Both are neatly tucked into inbuilt cupboards, sliding out for ease of use. The extra cupboard provides additional storage space helping keep the barbecue surfaces free from clutter.

Other thoughtful extras include a handy plate warming drawer built into the front and fold out shelves that offer more bench space.

The Electrolux Integrated Barbecue, also pictured, offers the same high-tech cooking surfaces as the Electrolux En:V. What the Electrolux Integrated Barbecue lacks in mobility it makes up for in design options. Custom surrounds mean you can integrate the appliance with other elements of your decor.
