T he most noticeable part of a house is often the exterior. When Jalcon Homes, multiple award winner at last year's House of the Year Awards, was looking for quality cladding for this showhome, it wanted a distinctive product that was easy to apply and had lasting qualities.

For these reasons Jalcon Homes chose to use Nutherm, one of three Nu-Age plaster products, says Patrick O'Callaghan, Auckland area manager for Nu-Age.

"Nu-Age plaster products provide a range of attractive cladding options. Our systems reduce application time to about one quarter of that required for conventional techniques," he says.

Nu-Age is happy to provide onsite advice to builders and plasterers. This commitment ensures no communication breakdowns occur that result in wasted product and time, says O'Callaghan.

Nu-Age Plaster has been producing and supplying top-quality dry mortar products and plaster systems to the building industry for 10 years. It currently offers three BRANZ appraised systems, Nu-Therm, Nu-Lite and Nu-Solid.

The doors and windows in this showhome were custom designed and manufactured by Summit Aluminium. The joinery, from the Vantage range, was finished with a Duralloy powder coat in O'Keefe Grey. As joinery is highly visible from both inside and outside a house, the right colour choice is critical, says director Robert Brown.

Placemakers Takanini supplied many of the materials for this Jalcon showhome. John Varoy, of Placemakers, says the company specialises in providing a personalised service to clients like Jalcon Homes. Experienced staff are also on hand to provide practical design advice.

TK & C Cabinets has been providing exactly this service for 13 years, say company directors, Ken Joyce and Trevor Saunders. This includes the design, building and installation of custom kitchens, bathrooms, and laundries.

"We specialise in working with a range of materials and finishes. Our craftsmanship and experience means clients are assured of quality results which match their specifications," they say.

TK & C Cabinets' team has been working with Jalcon Homes since 1994. The pictured kitchen is a joint design effort between the two companies, and features a generous amount of storage space, neatly concealed behind recessed cabinet doors with a lacquer finish. Top drawers are made out of dark stained oak for visual contrast, while granite countertops provide an enduring work surface.
