More and more designers and homeowners are recognizing the aesthetic and functional benefits of using exposed steel hardware be it cabinet door pulls or stainless steel sliding door systems.

Fred Salati, director of Amba Products, a company that distributes ABP-Beyerle stainless steel sliding doors and cabinet hardware, as well as towel warmers and bathroom accessories, says there are several good reasons for the growing awareness.

"Exposed hardware adds a strong designer element that completely transforms a home interior," he says. "But the practical advantages of these sliding door systems are also creating plenty of interest.

"Traditional doors swing through a wide arc that takes up a lot of space. Sliding doors free up this space, which can be invaluable for a small city apartment or any home where a room needs to be screened."

Salati says that although pocket doors may be seen as an alternative, they require considerable structural work to install, which is an additional expense.

"Installing pocket doors may also mean moving plumbing, electrical or mechanical services, which would add to the costs."

The high quality of the ABP-Beyerle products is another plus. The sliding door hardware features precision engineering and double ball bearings that ensure doors slide smoothly, quietly and effortlessly. Because the highest quality stainless steel is used, durability is also a given.

The hardware comes in a wide range of sizes and styles, including oil-rubbed bronze. There are systems for both glass and wood doors, which can be suspended from rails or from the ceiling.

"Clients can buy the steel hardware in kit-set form, or we can provide customized systems to meet special requirements," says Salati. "We also offer the Silent Glam roller system for heavy doors. These doors have an additional track on the floor, which sits flush with the floor surface."

Amba Products' cabinet hardware includes the innovative designs shown above. This hardware is made from high-quality leather and 304 stainless steel, and is available in a wide range of sizes and colors.

"Our cabinet hardware is a cost-effective alternative to other products on the market," says Salati. "We have sourced hardware that offers something a little different, but is also an affordable option."
