Interwoven with layers of functional and decorative art, Waitakere Central showcases the latest sustainable building techniques
Taking advantage of new technology to reduce running costs requires an electrical contractor with an up-to-date knowledge of the latest technology.
On this project, approved C-Bus installer Aden Electrical was called upon to meet the council's primary goal of providing an energy-efficient lighting management system that reflected the eco-friendly initiatives that Waitakere has adopted.
Greg Froude, the company's managing director, says there were also a number of other requirements.
"The system had to be a user-friendly automated system with integrated audio, lighting and security systems. It also needed upgrade potential, so in the future it could be linked with other council buildings."
To meet all these requirements, Aden Electrical designed and installed a C-Bus system.
"Using Clipsal's Schedule Plus management system, we can tailor a solution that incorporates realtime monitoring and individual control over all lighting circuits. C-Bus's failsafe programming ensures that lighting levels are utilised in the most effective way at all times. We can also schedule events that may effect when lighting is required, such as public holidays and changes in daylight saving."
The Clipsal C-Bus system is capable of running at a reduced power percentage, such as 90-95%, which can reduce energy consumption while further extending the life of the energy-efficient lamps that were installed throughout the building.
