Slice of paradise coastal landscape
Team behind picturesque Omaha landscape project
Where there's a will, there's a way' could be the motto for this project. Despite the small size of the site, Frontier Pools was able to build a concrete lap pool and spa pool and also create an eye-catching water feature.
Director Neil Runciman says the owners chose a Quartzon pool interior in Golden Star.
"This is a yellow-based plaster, as the name suggests. But it creates a very natural aqua-marine colour in the pool. We teamed this with a fully tiled spa. Both pools feature Spanish glass mosaics around the waterline."
To add visual interest, water flows over an infinity edge in the lap pool, and trickles down a wall of hand-hewn Indian stone. This complements the stone used elsewhere in the landscape.
"Because space was at a premium, it was essential to conceal the pool equipment and cover," says Runciman. "We consequently built a teak deck at one end of the pool, with trap doors. This houses a fully automated slat cover for the pool. The deck is a feature in itself it features caulking, just like a boat deck."
A dual-purpose heat pump maintains the temperature of the water in both pools.
