We all have a responsibility to consider how our actions affect the planet's health – no-one knows this better than high quality surface provider Cosentino

Walking the talk

The company works alongside its customers and technology partners to deliver high-value design solutions, inspiring the lives of many, with the aim of making the world a better place.

And of course a key part of this is Cosentino's strong focus on sustainability – here are some diverse examples of Cosentino displaying its diligent green thinking and helping to make the world a better place.

Silestone – reinvented with green technologies

  • Cosentino’s focus on sustainability has seen the company reinvent Silestone to be made with Hybriq+ technology.
  • Silestone is the most sustainable and cutting-edge hybrid surface of premium minerals and recycled materials.
  • It is made from a minimum of 20% recycled materials such as glass, a maximum of 40% crystalline silica, using 100% certified renewable electricity and 99% recycled water.

Latest resources and focussed reuse

  • Cosentino endeavours to harness all resources and find new uses for waste, as well as creating new infrastructures and sustainable ties – from a self-consumption photovoltaic plant (a benchmark in Spain) to a new waste recovery centre.
Cosentino's green focus includes the production of more
Cosentino's green focus includes the production of more than 3 million m² of slabs from recycled or recovered materials (almost a third of Cosentino’s total production) last year – a milestone made possible thanks to Cosentino’s Waste Treatment Plant.
  • It's not surprising that Cosentino received the Forbes – Credit Suisse Sustainability Award in 2022.

Contribution to the Seascape charity – care for our oceans

  • To support a local environmental charity, Live Ocean Foundation recently, Cosentino NZ commissioned a custom-made coffee table to be designed and made by New Era Tiling.
  • The finished product was auctioned for $6,000 and the proceeds went towards the charity’s Seascape project, a pioneering photogrammetry innovation, which allows scientists to create high-res, 3D models and landscape-scale maps of the seafloor.
  • This project is trialling in Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf and aims to gather more accurate science that helps us to understand the effects of climate change on the oceans.
