Silestone – reinvented with green technologies
- Cosentino’s focus on sustainability has seen the company reinvent Silestone to be made with Hybriq+ technology.
- Silestone is the most sustainable and cutting-edge hybrid surface of premium minerals and recycled materials.
- It is made from a minimum of 20% recycled materials such as glass, a maximum of 40% crystalline silica, using 100% certified renewable electricity and 99% recycled water.
Dekton – carbon neutral, zero waster
- Dekton by Cosentino has carbon neutral certification from manufacturing to end-of-life through UN-recognised projects with a high positive social and environmental impact.
- In addition, Cosentino participates in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), a not-for-profit charity that scores companies on their decarbonisation strategy and ESG policy through transparent disclosure of the corporate strategy
- It also has Zero Waste certification, which guarantees the recovery of more than 90% of the waste generated in the production process.
Latest resources and focussed reuse
- Cosentino endeavours to harness all resources and find new uses for waste, as well as creating new infrastructures and sustainable ties – from a self-consumption photovoltaic plant (a benchmark in Spain) to a new waste recovery centre.
- It's not surprising that Cosentino received the Forbes – Credit Suisse Sustainability Award in 2022.
Green as the sea
- The global company collaborates with Equilibrio Marino, a non-profit environmental organisation comprised of divers, scientists and sea lovers that works to restore and preserve marine ecosystems – Cosentino's work with them helps to clean up the Mediterranean sea.
In New Zealand ... hands-on clean up
- In New Zealand, the local teams participate in beach clean ups and other environmental projects.
Contribution to the Seascape charity – care for our oceans
- To support a local environmental charity, Live Ocean Foundation recently, Cosentino NZ commissioned a custom-made coffee table to be designed and made by New Era Tiling.
- The finished product was auctioned for $6,000 and the proceeds went towards the charity’s Seascape project, a pioneering photogrammetry innovation, which allows scientists to create high-res, 3D models and landscape-scale maps of the seafloor.
- This project is trialling in Auckland’s Hauraki Gulf and aims to gather more accurate science that helps us to understand the effects of climate change on the oceans.
- The coffee table was fabricated in Pietra Kode’s Gk07 Ceppo, a Dekton product that is carbon neutral from cradle to grave.
