Showered in light and space

Sometimes a deft shift in design direction can bring about a world of change – and even savings. With this renovation, the search for more space and natural light resulted in a luxurious showering environment

Designed by EJ Building

From the designer:

The brief for these homeowners evolved throughout the design process. Originally they wanted to undertake an extension incorporating a new larger ensuite bathroom, as their current ensuite was too small.

However, we recommended that a less disruptive and more cost effective approach would be to reduce the size of their walk-in wardrobe and to use the additional space to extend their current bathroom footprint. This allowed us to create a new large and luxurious walk-in shower.

We managed to line the new dividing wall up with the existing sky light to incorporate it into the shower, providing a unique bright and airy bathroom.

As the shower was going to be the key feature in the bathroom we incorporated a large channel drain and located the rain shower head under the skylight.

We installed LED lights under the vanity and above the mirror to create a soft lighting effect for the middle of the night if somebody needed to use the bathroom.

As the owners were living in the house it was very important to them to have a functional bathroom to use as soon as possible. The team was able to get in and renovate the bathroom start to finish in three weeks.
