Simplicity of form combined with modern materials gives this Porsche showroom an environment as distinctive as the car
With a reputation for high performance engineering and design, Porsche is in the upper echelon of car makers. The challenge in creating a Porsche showroom is reflecting the status of the car in building design.
McKerrell Architects response to the Marque Car Makers' brief was to design a distinctively modern car showroom and workshop, says managing director, Tom McKerrell.
"The high-ceiling showroom and curved glass exterior wall of the building creates a welcoming, spacious and functional automotive gallery for the premier car maker," he says.
"The building design, which incorporates many modern materials, is based on simplicity of form in both the interior and exterior. The attention to detail which is a signature of all our jobs is especially evident in our work on this project."
McKerrell says the finishes of black, silver and glass complement the traditional automotive history of the client, and establish a high-tech environment reflective of the Porsche brand.
