As Cafe Trends is often used for meeting and greeting clients, keeping the environment looking good is particularly important.Design company Yellowfox was recently asked to give Cafe Trends an upgrade. It used its associations with renowned companies in the design sector to create a contemporary, high-end design that reflects the clientele of the cafe. Resene was the chosen paint supplier for the project, says Claire Bruford, one of the designers who worked on Cafe Trends."Paints were chosen for looks and durability. Resene Enamacryl Metallic waterborne enamel was chosen in areas where we wanted to obtain a metallic effect, such as the curved plaster walls. This product can be used in hard-wearing areas traditionally reserved for solventborne enamels, but unlike with enamels the metallic look is possible. For easy cleaning, the walls were then overcoated in Resene Aquaclear Gloss." A stonex benchtop in spice, from the colours of the world range by trelise cooper, was chosen for its vibrant shade. Chandeliers add sophistication. Low-sheen Resene Zylone Sheen was chosen for the banquette seating walls and ceiling. This product produces a surface that is both smooth and tough. Andrea White, another designer on the project, says that for the broadwall areas, Resene SpaceCote Low Sheen waterborne enamel was chosen."This is a breakthrough product that brings enamel-style toughness to large areas, allowing a low sheen finish without sacrificing durability. This made it the paint of choice for the larger areas."All the paints used for this project come from the extensive range of Environmental Choice, low-odour paints from Resene.
