Putting a toe in the water and undertaking one small project can be a good starting point for renovating. Once you see the results, you'll be encouraged to move to the next stage.

This was the case for the owners of the bathrooms featured here. Bathroom designer Garrett Hebden of Better Bathrooms and Kitchens says he was called in to redesign the main bathroom.

"As soon as the project was completed, the owners asked us to carry on and refurbish the ensuite and guest powder room," says the designer.

The old main bathroom had been uninteresting and the owners wanted it modernised.

Better Bathrooms and Kitchens custom-designed a new vanity cabinet and topped it with Quarella Cristal. The same material, but in tile form, has been used on the walls and floor.

The ensuite, which doubles as a powder room, had been plain, so the owners wanted to add a "wow" look and make it more appealing for guests. To do this, a deep blood-red vanity was custom-made by Better Bathrooms and Kitchens and topped with Quarella Lido. Floor and wall tiles in Quarella Vergo provide a neutral background.
