A fireplace that can be designed to suit the space and dimensions of a room rather than having to be located to accommodate the needs of the chimney or flue greatly expands the design possibilities.

The new EcoSmart Fire, available from Real Fires, requires no flue. It has no specific installation requirements and doesn't need to be connected to a permanent fuel supply. Fuelled by methylated spirits stored inside a five-litre holder inside the burner, it is also an environmentally friendly fireplace option.

Director of Real Fires, Ali Scott says an exciting aspect of the EcoSmart is that it is easy for architects and homeowners to create a firebox in their own design to house the burner.

"The fireplace doesn't need to be any particular shape or size, apart from maintaining sufficient clearance from combustible materials," she says.

The Real Fires team works with architects, designers and homeowners to help them select the right fire for both the interior and exterior of their homes.
