Location is a fundamental element of every corporate development. The physical address of a head office visited and evaluated by clients, industry colleagues, overseas visitors and potential business partners needs to reflect a pristine, go-ahead setting, with premises that stand proud among businesses of a similar calibre. Attractive landscaping, broad street environments, a raft of local amenities and proximity to public transport complete the picture for a business with a focus on the future.

Interplex@Albany occupies 40ha of prime freehold land and presents the last available greenfield site before Silverdale in the greater North Shore area. However, besides the fresh, open nature of the land itself, it is the developer that makes the estate an empowering destination for new businesses.

Northbridge Properties, with a strong history of flourishing commercial real estate projects, has undertaken 25% of all developments completed at Interplex@Albany. Taking a pivotal role in ensuring the pedigree of the address, Northbridge has created several options to suit a variety of business models, says director Rod Bray.

"We have completed two multi-site integrated office parks at Interplex. The most recent Apollo Technical Park has broad, welcoming streets with nine office buildings on each side," says Bray. "Some of the buildings within the park have low-stud warehousing attached as a variation on the pure office theme. The buildings have modular designs, repeated and rotated on their axes to create a sense of individuality and harmony."

These buildings are developed in complementary, economical forms, with high studs and a combination of cutting-edge office space with modest warehousing options attached. Some buildings include pop-top roofs which can be used for breakout areas, boardrooms, or teleconferencing spaces. Triton and Apollo office parks are home to Carter Holt Harvey division Lodestar, Novartis Pharmaceuticals, AFS Total Fire, and the head offices of Samsung and Northbridge Properties itself.

The carefully considered architecture, easy access and attractive connecting public spaces give an overall impression of prosperity to these head-office precincts. The Interplex Owners' Association brings further assurance for new entrants to the parks that only clean and professional businesses will be allowed. An architectural review panel approves all design within the business park prior to commencement, avoiding architectural eyesores such as slab-front buildings and exposed roof plant. Residential-style buildings are also excluded from the area.

On-site amenities at Interplex include gymnasiums, cafes, restaurants, health and childcare facilities, as well as convenience retail outlets.

Northbridge's input to Interplex@Albany goes well beyond these two business street settings. The developer has attracted several key companies to the well-featured address.

"Billabong, Makita, Samsung and now 3M all have headquarters here," says Bray. "We custom design stand-alone buildings to supply niche requirements and another ground-breaking construction, the Apex building, is up for lease now. Our portfolio and our ability to create for any style or size of business make Northbridge and Interplex@Albany solid prospects for a company's future."
