Curved custom orb roofing from Lidoran Architectural Roofing features on the Hamilton Island Yacht Club villa roofs

High-quality roofing materials and fittings that would withstand the onslaught of a tropical cyclone were essential for the Hamilton Island villas. The roofing also needed to complement the streamlined, contemporary architecture.
Lidoran Architectural Roofing, a Sydney-based roofing specialist that has worked on many Hamilton Island projects, was contracted to supply and install curved custom orb roofing, flashings, guttering and downpipes for the villas project. Lidoran national client manager Wayne Podlich says .48bmt ultra-corrugated custom orb was fabricated for the project and installed with 75mm anticon insulation.

"The roofing also needed to meet the architects' brief for a minimalist barge flashing detail," he says. "We sourced imported 4mm soft-feed aluminium for the barge rolls, which was then rolled and powdercoated. This created a clean line contrasting the steel finish on the underside of the eaves."
The roofing is paired with 150mm half-round guttering, which incorporates stainless steel gutter brackets, powdercoated 90mm round downpipes and Class 4 cyclonic washered screws. All the products were chosen for their rust resistance.
