Going home can feel like going on holiday when your house includes touches reminiscent of a luxury lodge. Although very much a family home, the house Design Construction Home built in Coatesville captures the look and mood of a resort, says director James Hicks.

"It's like a luxury resort in design and finishes," Hicks says. "Using granite and stone adds to the lodge atmosphere and gives it a solid feel."

The house is an ideal design for entertaining, with an open plan moving easily to the outdoor areas. Inside, a more traditional dining room can be the setting for formal meals.

Three areas define the dwelling: the main hub, the children's wing and the pool house. The main hub, where the family spends much of its time, includes the kitchen, dining area, lounge and television room. When required, the television room can be closed off for privacy.

For big gatherings, the scullery next to the kitchen offers additional space for preparing food. The kitchen accesses the bar area, which can be opened to the outside using bifold windows.
