A beautiful floor can anchor a design scheme. By creating a custom colour, Wood Floor Concepts achieved a finish that heightens the interior design of the Coatesville house.

The client sought a rich, dark colour for the floor, says director Ian McQuilton.

Wood Floor Concepts combined walnut and brown shades from the NGR range for a custom colour. A moisture-cured polyurethane was applied on top for durability, enhancing the wide-board American oak flooring. The flooring was chosen because of its big, open grain and ability to accept Wattle NGR stain, Ian McQuilton says.

The floor was laid over a concrete sub-floor and epoxy sealed with a moisture membrane. Wood Floor Concepts prepares the floor as well as supplying and installing tongue-and-groove timber flooring, pre-finished laminates and French oak.

Ian McQuilton and fellow director Alan Scott, co-owners of Wood Floor Concepts, have 30 years' combined expertise in the field, enabling them to provide the right look for clients, using finishes such as polyurethane, blonding, oiling or custom stain.
