Choosing a house is a big decision, and ultimately you will want a house that will stand the test of time. This Jennian Homes Coromandel show home in Whangamata, with interiors designed by Yellowfox, was built with the future in mind.

Companies specialising in future-proof building collaborated on the show home, using materials from Carters. Future-proofing means employing thoughtful design and long-lasting, quality materials.

The flexible layout of this four-bedroom house makes it a suitable family home or a beachside bach. The open-plan kitchen, dining and living spaces form the hub of the house. A guest wing, which could be used as an office, is separated from the main living areas by a breezeway. Ranchsliders can be opened in the summer to make the most of indoor-outdoor flow.

The cabinetry in the kitchen, in Bestwood Recon American Oak veneer and Bestwood Melamine Arctic White, was designed by Andrea Burney of Yellowfox to create a modern, streamlined look. Manufactured by Mastercraft Kitchens by Whangamata Woodworks, the cabinetry is complemented by Hettich hardware.

The DecoGlaze splashback provides subtle colour and, combined with the stainless steel and quartz benchtops, makes clean up simple and quick.

In the bathroom, Robertson fittings and fixtures, along with an Athena vanity, were chosen for their clean lines. Milano Arctic tiles from Tile Warehouse add visual interest. Norman Ellison Boston carpet, which is 100% anti-allergenic, was specified for the bedrooms.

Yellowfox, a specialist in exterior and interior design, has strong associations in the building sector.

"If there is anything Yellowfox cannot provide for its clients, we can refer them to a specialist," says Burney.
