Doors and partitioning was built to take the knocks at this new high school
Although Albany Senior High School has a flexible, open-plan layout, there is still a distinct structure to the design of the interior spaces. Interior fit-out specialist Forman Building Systems was contracted to supply the partitioning for the entire building.
Forman Building Systems marketing manager Nick Molcisi says the project, which began with an empty shell, included the design and supply of all the steel framing for the walls. "Our steel supplier, Rondo Building Services, provided a custom wall design that met the specific seismic requirements for this building."
Molcisi says Forman Building Systems also worked closely with the architect to realise the vision for the interior. "To enhance the semi-industrial look of the building, we used the AAL Monz aluminium partitioning. This has a particularly sturdy construction that can withstand the everyday knocks and wear and tear expected in a school environment. The Monz aluminium suite can also provide extra-high partitions and long spans over wide openings."
Forman Building Systems' AAL aluminium door system, which incorporated large sliders and standard aluminium hinge doors was specified. Molcisi says this system features an internal locking system that creates a seamless, minimalist look. "The AAL door system also incorporates a New Zealand-engineered roller, together with a proprietary track and pelmet system. These can be adjusted quickly and easily for effortless maintenance."
The partitioning, steel framing and doors were installed by Alpha Interiors.
